A new urban destination development with community at its heart.

We helped to bring about an idea for an innovate and dynamic new destination in Central London founded upon a community-focussed model for visiting, living, working, and experiencing life.

The King’s Place scheme, in London’s up-and-coming SE1 district, was designed to bring together a mix of uses and users in a new community that would bring a significant regenerative impact and benefits to local people and the wider economy. This came about through a clear, compelling vision with an appreciation that ‘people make places’ at its heart.

The c.190,000 sq.ft. scheme designed by architects Allies and Morrison was set around a new public courtyard and comprised new housing, a community hotel, co-work space (supported by a local business incubator initiative), restaurant/retail offerings (including a new roof-top café/bar) and, at its heart, a new much-needed community hub.

As part of a small, values-driven and ambitious client team, we worked together and in collaboration with partners and stakeholders to bring this vision to reality. Firstly, we helped shape the vision and strategy, then we set about assembling a substantial site through multiple acquisitions and securing the necessary investment/finance. Next, we selected, directed and oversaw a leading consultant team and management/operating partner to take the project forward through design evolution, planning/public consultation to planning consent.
